The JOURNEY – Sin Free – 1John 1:8 MSG
“If we claim that we’re free of sin, we’re only fooling ourselves.”

It’s not popular to talk about sin because sin exposes some ugly things about us. Believers in our day are quickly trained to so walk in grace and that the admission and confession of sin is no longer needed. Sin has become the dirty word of the average church. Believers are offended when confronted with sin.

Being saved doesn’t mean that we’re sin free. Being saved does mean that we can walk more freely from sin. John is actually writing to believers and letting them know that, because we are saved, sin should more be easily recognized and repented of. The opposite seems to be occurring. Instead of recognizing and repenting, the average believer is, ignoring and covering. A true believer should be more alert and quicker to act on sin in their life. The Holy Spirit in you will not sugar coat sin. He exposes and then wants to expel any attempt of sin to enter our lives. Want to be sin free? Never be fooled by your own assessment of sin. It takes His Spirit to expose it. Then we must address it and confess it in order to be sin free.
