The first annual Replenish 5K Run / Walk was held on March 26th, 2016 at Bisset Park in Radford, VA. “For a first time 5K, this is a GREAT turnout,” said Rhonda Hudson, 5K Co-Coordinator. The run had around 50 online registrations and an additional 10-15 on Saturday morning. Running conditions were on the cool side with clouds overhead until later in the morning at the awards ceremony where awards were given to the top three male and female group categories.

The 5K event served as a fundraiser to benefit Replenish Festival as well as Joy Ranch Home for  Children. “As a ministry, we feel it important to serve our community and to reach out to them and support others,” said Teresa Martin, who volunteers in the role of Marketing and Communications. Joy Ranch reaches out to families in crisis to provide a Christ-centered environment for its residents. Several people from the home also ran in the race.

People of all ages came out to run and walk the 5K event. The age brackets ranged from kids to adults over 65. One runner, Andrea Schrader, came with her 4-legged friend, Dash, to run the race. After further conversation, this was not Dash’s first time racing. The dog often attends races with his owner. Another notable participant was a double-lung transplant recipient who ran and finished the 5K Race! God Is Good! 🙂

Replenish Ministries wishes to extend a big Thank You to all of the runners who came out and for all of the generous donations from local businesses! Special thanks to our water sponsors: 3300 Artesian Water in Bland County, Willis Village Mart, Slaughter’s Supermarket and Floyd Xpress. Special thanks to our food sponsors: Food Lion in Pulaski, Kroger in Fairlawn, TA Produce in Dublin, and Walmart in Dublin. A special thanks also goes to 5K Coordinators, Rhonda and Harry Hudson, Robert Smith and his
wife, Connie, and all of the 5K volunteers. “We couldn’t have done it without them,” says Travis Bishop, ministry President.

Replenish Ministries plans to hold a 5K event annually in addition to their annual Replenish Festival. This year’s festival will be held July 9th in Willis, VA on the Burnett Farm and will feature popular artists Building 429 and JJ Weeks Band as well as other musical artists and speaker David Wheeler from Liberty University; and Pat Farrell will speak on Sunday morning. Tickets are on sale NOW at http://itickets.com for only $15 for adults through April and then prices will go up. Children 5 and under are free and kids (ages 6-12) can purchase a Junior Ticket for only $5.  Lots of fun beyond the music
is planned, so for all the details check out: https://replenishfest.com
